Introducing the Goji Plant
The Himalayan Region has always been an allurement to Western Civilization. The Himalayan Region is home to Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak, and boasts the existence of the Abominable Snowman and the Dalai Lama who is the supreme head of Tibetan Buddhism.
Only recently has the Western world discovered another gift from the Himalayan Region. This gift is the goji plant. To fully understand and appreciate the goji plant it is important to know the basic facts regarding this plant and the possible health benefits associated with the plant.
Basic Facts
The goji plant is indigenous to the continent of Asia. Specifically, it is found in parts of western China, Tibet and Mongolia. The goji plant genus is composed of over forty variations of this beautiful plant and is known for their healing properties.
The actual height of the goji plant shrubbery grows to a height ranging from eight to ten feet tall. The seeds from which they sprout are similar to the dimensions of the seeds from a tomato. The plant itself is known for being robust and does not require much in the way of water. As a reflection of its being a healthy and hardy plant, it does not grow well in a balmy environment such as a tropical climate.
The appearance of the goji plant is also very vigorous in its look. The leaves are a deep green in color and the fruit that is produced is a vibrant red. This edible fruit has a very sweet and pleasant taste.

The entire goji plant provides many advantages. The benefits of the fruit can be realized by eating the flesh of the fruit. This fruit can be consumed in dried form or eaten naturally. Additionally, the fruit can be placed in a juicer to receive the benefits of a beverage and the leaves of the plant make for a tasty drink too. Lastly, the gorgeous pink flowers are very appealing to the eyes.
Beneficial Qualities
With there being over 40 varieties of this plant, the most beneficial goji plant is the one found in the higher elevations of the Himalayas. The reason being is that the health benefits found in the plant’s fruit is mainly because of the ingredient polysaccharides.
Polysaccharides can be likened to the controlling molecules within the body. These coordinators ensure the health of the body’s immune system. Therefore, the benefits of the goji plant, is the strengthening of the body’s immune system and advancement of healthy cells through the enrichment of polysaccharides found in the goji fruit.
